Lost Cause

 Lost Cause is a four-piece rock band from the Arlington, MN region. We officially came into being this January (2008) with the addition of Brian Evans as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. However, all four of the members of Lost Cause have been jamming together from time to time over the last six years. We would like to think of ourselves as the fusion of two local groups - Kartoon and Four Week Cycle - who were once again looking for the opportunity to get out and play. Having served as 4WC's mentors, it only seemed natural that when Kris and Aaron were looking for a singer and a bassist that they would turn to Evans and Haefs, respectively... and so here we are.

To be honest, the most difficult issue that has crept up among the band thus-far was deciding what to call ourselves. Having proclaimed the effort a "lost cause," we stumbled upon a fitting name, given the irony of it all, and one that would also accurately describe those moments of doubt that lead us, as people, to desire music... and, as musicians, that which leads us to create it.

We describe ourselves as "rock" because it is a very general term which reflects the sweepingly broad musical interests and influences of the band members. To say the music we play fits under any more specific of an umbrella would be a lie, because we touch on many eras and styles of rock music. At the same time, we are not afraid to broaden our horizons beyond rock, occasionally throwing in songs from other genres of music.

Having just started up, our current goal is to work to perfect an ever-growing list of cover songs as we try to find more and more playing opportunities. And who knows maybe even write our own songs some day. But we hope our sound, our energy, and our variety of new and old songs and personal favorites make coming out to see us an enjoyable experience.
